Small Evergreen trees; branchlets densely long light orange villose when young, later glabrate-tomentose, terete; buds ovoid, acute or obtuse at apex, densely sericeous-puberulent.
Leaves thinly coriaceous, ovate-oblong to oblong, 9-20 cm long, 4-8 cm broad, entire, cuspidate-acute to acuminate at apex, obtuse at base, glabrous and shining above, glaucous and pubescent beneath, tomentose along the veins beneath when young, with 3 main veins, midrib elevated on both surfaces, lateral veins ca. 4 pairs, reticulate veinlets obscure; petioles 1-2.5 cm long, stout, puberulent.
Inflorescences globose in bud, sessile; involucral bracts silky-puberulent outside, glabrous inside, elliptic, obtuse at apex, deciduous.
Fruit globose, 1.2 cm across, glabrous; pedicels 7 mm long, puberulent, later glabrescent, with persistent tepals.
